Ramón Vargas will lead an incredible cast in Robert Carsen’s spectacular production of Offenbach’s dazzling final opera, a work that combines fantasy, gravity and humour in an unexpectedly innovative synthesis of opera buffa, romantic opera and grand opera.

This adaptation of three tales by E.T.A. Hoffmann, with a sprinkling of Goethe’s Faust, portrays the German poet as both narrator and hero recounting his love affairs with Olympia (Nadine Koutcher), Antonia (Ermonela Jaho) and Giuletta (Kate Aldrich). Opera de Paris Musical Director Philippe Jordan conducts.

Conductor: Philippe Jordan
Orchestra: Orchestre de l’Opera national de Paris
Cast: Ramón Vargas, Nadine Koutcher, Kate Aldrich, Ermonela Jaho, Stéphanie d'Oustrac, Yann Beuron
Composer: Jacques Offenbach
Director: Robert Carsen
Set Design: Michael Levine

Please note programme change: Acclaimed Mexican tenor Ramón Vargas replaces the originally billed Jonas Kaufmann as ‘Hoffmann’, who has needed to withdraw for medical reasons.
